The Drumless-Snap Quarter-Electric Jazz Quartet
The Drumless-Snap Quarter-Electric Jazz Quartet
“The Drumless-Snap Quarter-Electric Jazz Quartet” is a new project that I am embarking in the realm of jazz music. As a solo artist, recording jazz music proves slightly problematic - jazz traditionally is based around on the interactions of several musicians playing together. It also proves problematic because I can’t play or program drums to save my life.
So doing traditional jazz recording would be a bit of a problem for me. The solution? Do non-traditional jazz - unorthodox, if you will. Thus, The Drumless-Snap Quarter-Electric Jazz Quartet (or the DSQEJQ - pronounced “dis-qwe-ji-kuh”) is born.
The DSQEJQ’s instrumentation is as follows:
- Jazz accordion (filling the role of a jazz piano)
- Jazz melodica (taking the lead line)
- Cassie on acoustic bass (Cassie being an electric Casio keyboard, hence the “Quarter-Electric”)
- Snaps (filling the role of percussion, hence the “Drumless-Snap”)
