December-11-Creative-Title Updates

11 12 2008

Three updates for you:

1. I “temporarily” have taken the Frostbite of the Heart EP down from the site. I hope it will be back up at some point in the future, but for mysterious purposes of my own, its spot on the internet must now remain vacant. Stay tuned…?

2. I’m going to embark on the journey of my third Facebook application soon. Just pre-planning for now, but I’m excited. It’ll be fun. Oh, yes it will, yes it will. You will like it. Yes you will. I guarantee.

3. For those who know what it means something to, the next update will arrive in a banana suit.

Oh, and just some fourth thing(s) that occur to me, if I’m doing this whole blogging my life thing; I made an order from amazon today of two things I’m really looking forward to - the “Reinhold Messner” transcription book and ”Compass Rose Boquet” by Great Lakes Myth Society, a completely unknown but awesome band from Michigan. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.

Oh, and a fifth thing I guess. I’ll just comment that I bought Half-Life during Valve’s crazy 98 cent sale (because it was the game’s 10th birthday, from 1998). I’m almost done with it, and I must say that it truly stands up to the test of time. Not like some games like Wolfenstein, which I feel you need to view through the lense of the times, but I feel that the innovative story-telling, creative level design, and just overall fun gameplay really do keep the game fun under a modern context. And playing through it only makes me more excited for Black Mesa, the Source mod of the game that will be free for anyone with a Source game in Steam when it comes out (soon).

That is all.

The Magical 11 Seconds

26 05 2008

So Stu and I recorded our song for Masters of Song Fu Round 1 today. As you may remember from the last post, we had brilliantly masterminded the tempo so that our theme came in at exactly 1 minute. For some reason between Sonar and Audacity and iTunes, the song picked up an extra 11 seconds, which was mega-weird, but we were finally able to edit that down to exactly 1 minute, or on some computers 59 seconds, depending on whether you round up or down. Remember to listen for the song on Wednesday and VOTE FOR EAST CAROLINA.

Additionally, I mentioned that at some point I’d release our alternative-show theme song, which I most likely will still do (If I don’t wuss out or forget to). In addition, we may post the full-extra 11 second-version at some point in time, so that you too may experience the original artistic vision we had in our heads.

So yeah. Not much else has happened since Thursday or whenever I wrote the last post. I bought some pants today. And some shoes. Yea.

Update Update Update

18 05 2008

It’s been awhile since the last update, partially due to my busy schedule. Since my last post, I mainly was not writing because I needed to devote most of my energy into studying for the AP Economic exams. Luckily for you, the reader, this was not all a waste, because I did write a new song while I was studying - the economist’s love song, currently titled “Have Faith (feat. Adam Smith)”, and I may record that and put it up at some point in the future.

Also last week we had a band concert, where I was required to play the crazy synth parts in Peaches en Regalia among other things, which was fun, yet crazy tricky (I had to play on two keyboards at one to keep up with the song. But I have gotten positive feedback, so I guess it went good).

In addition, I have finally beaten Sam & Max 205: What’s New, Beelzebub? I had mostly been distracted and too lazy to have gotten around to the end. Once again, I will reiterate my belief that Season 2 hasn’t had any highs like there were in Season 1. I don’t know if Telltale is planning a Season 3 (I can only assume that they will), I hope that they can figure out what made Season 1 better than Season 2, and fix it. I’m not quite sure myself. One theory I have is that, since Season 2 had more of a planned story-arc, and Season 1 was more self-contained, that finishing an Episode in Season 1 just gave you more closure and a greater sense of accomplishment than just solving the next step in a series. The other issue I really have with Season 2 is that even though the idea was to create a fuller story-arc, to me it doesn’t really make sense. The overarching idea of the season is that Bosco is missing, and you need to find him. However, this isn’t really a driving force - who cares if Bosco’s missing? That’s not the thing that you can drive approx. 15 hours of gameplay from. Anyway, there goes my minor rant.

And finally, me, Stuart, and friends have finished recording “The Chemistry Album”. Stuart and I are thinking about potentially putting all of our East Carolina albums on the site for free download soon, so perhaps you will be able to hear all of the new tracks in a few days.

Week of Awesome Update: Podcast In The Works

2 05 2008

Okay, so I have Podcast #7 all ready to go (Tribute to America), but I’m having some issues with my audio editing software - Audacity won’t let me save files as mp3 and my audio converter is converting files with weird scratches inserted in the middle. However, I’m going to try to sort those out and get the podcast uptomorrow.

How Has the Week of Awesome Gone?

Eh.

TF2 updates:

  • Goldrush=Good.
    Goldrush=Fun.
  • Medic achievements=impossible.
Medic achievements=too many medics in any single server I join.
Medic achievements=me feeling guilty to change to medic to get achievements on team bloated with medics already
Medic achievements=me hating every medic who has already unlocked a weapon.
    Therefore: Medic achievements=Bad.
  • Payload maps=Confusing as hell in Hammer.

C.S.O

Incredible. Of course.

Good Karma

Canceled, will be rescheduled.

Lost

Good, but not great. I was expecting that though - Lost generally has a schedule where every other week the episode is really good, and last weeks was great, so I expected this week’s to be a little lackluster [NOTE: This generally does not hold true for the end of a season though, where there are 4-5 high-fueled episodes in a row]. So next week’s episode should be good (and it looks like it).

Oh, and in case you forgot…JoCo tomorrow (!).

The Ultimate Week

28 04 2008

My schedule for the ultimate week:

This Sentence Is False

16 04 2008

Today when I was supposed to be taking notes on Chemical Kinetics, which I kind of did, I developed an interesting puzzle. Let’s see if anybody can formulate the answer. I am confident that the solution can be deduced using simple logic.

4 of the 8 numbers in this paragraph are incorrect. Every incorrect number is 1 away from its correct version. The first incorrect number is written as being no greater than 5 and no less than 10. Several of the corrected numbers contain two syllables. Added together, the correct versions of the incorrect numbers sum 23. The smallest number that can be formed by multiplying two correct versions of incorrect numbers together is 3.

Also, I’d like to wish good luck to all my friends with auditions today. I have great confidence in all of you.
